The latest UK charts have been released. It is worth noting that, although the charts are for a week that includes the first 2 days of 2021, this is officially considered by the GfK to be the last week of their 2020 charts. All the sales data for the charts are physical game sales only, and digital sales are not counted.
That all said, there has been some more good news for Nintendo. The conclusion of the holiday season saw a bump up in the positions of Nintendo games, due to Nintendo Switch games not seeing as large a sales drop as Playstation 4 and Xbox One games, Nintendo promoting hardware deals up through Christmas, and the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S and X being low in stock.
Only New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe got an impressive sales boost, jumping from #20 to #10. Super Mario 3D All-Stars climbed back to #8, and Minecraft on the Switch made it back to #7. Another 2 games, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe and Animal Crossing New Horizons, managed to climb higher into the top 5. Animal Crossing New Horizons even managed to close out the year at the top spot of the charts, something that games like FIFA, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed usually do. The full chart data is down below.
