While we still wait with bated breath the first Nintendo Direct of 2020, that leaves Animal Crossing: New Horizons as the sole contender of the Switch’s most anticipated first-party title coming this year. With just a couple months before you can escape to your very own deserted island courtesy of Tom Nook’s latest money-making enterprise, we’ve gathered everywhere you can pre-order a copy for the best price right here.
Although it’s pretty straightforward in the US, unless things change nearer launch, the UK has a far greater variation in price points while you’ll also find many retailers have snagged their own exclusive bonus incentives. Animal Crossing: New Horizons release date
Animal Crossing: New Horizons will release on Switch on 20th March 2020.
There is only a standard edition being released. However, many UK retailers are differentiating themselves by offering some tempting pre-order bonus items exclusive to their store. As such, you may be asking yourself whether you want to prioritise on the lowest price or the most attractive little tidbit that comes with your game.
There’s currently no word on any promotional offers in the US but we’ll be sure to update this page if anything changes between now and launch.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons best price
Animal Crossing New Horizons has an RRP of £49.99 in the UK and $59.99 in the US.
In the US, a search across the major retailers shows that many are sticking this price, which is pretty standard for first-party Switch games now. However, in the UK there’s a greater difference between retailers, with the lowest saving you around £10 off.

However, while the cheapest prices in the UK for Animal Crossing: New Horizons are clear, bear in mind these only come with the game. If you’re tempted by the little extra trinkets select retailers are providing, then you’ll have to pay a little extra.
At the full price of £49.99, the Nintendo Official UK Store has two options for you. You can either get the game with a tote bag featuring Tom Nook, Isabelle and K.K. Slider, or you can get it with the pins pack, which includes a pin badge for each of the above three characters. The tote bag is also available as a pre-order bonus at GAME, although the website also mentions that stock is limited so there isn’t strictly a guarantee that they will ship the game with the bag.
The bonus goodies continue with Amazon UK who are bundling the game with an exclusive microfibre cloth with some lovely prints of a number of Animal Crossing characters. If you’re planning to take your Switch on the go while you play, this seems like an ideal accessory to have. Or you might fancy the notepad and sticker sheet set that Smyths are including as their pre-order bonus!
Finally, you can also get a copy of the game with a character keyring. You have a choice between Tom Nook, Isabelle and K. K. Slider but they have been divvied up as exclusives for different retailers, and they are also priced differently.
