Do you recall console customisation specialist dbrand’s brutally honest post about PlayStation 5 skins? For those of you who don’t recall, the outrageously candid company wrote on Reddit that it had intended to make lots of money from manufacturing adhesive overlays for Sony’s next-gen console that would transform its white exterior into a more traditional black. However, it admitted that “you assholes” wouldn’t be able to apply them properly – honest, but almost certainly true.
“The skills we’ve refined through the past few years of developing the Grip Case has uniquely positioned our organisation to create OEM-grade faceplates: ones with all of the precision, attention to detail, and needlessly elaborate packaging that you’ve come to expect from dbrand,” the firm said. “We’ll be entering mass production on PS5 faceplates by year’s end. However, we won’t be accepting orders until we have stock at our Toronto HQ, ready to ship. If CD Projekt RED has taught us anything, it’s that selling products before they’re finished is a bad idea.”

The company added that it expects its initial run to go out of stock immediately, but it intends for these to become a “permanent fixture in its product portfolio”. We reckon they look great!
