Hitman 3 is collating three complete Hitman games, combining the content of Hitman and Hitman 2 with the threequel. That’s awesome news for fans of the franchise, because it means you’ll have an enormous catalogue of Agent 47 action to enjoy. Our concern, for a few months now, has been the overall file size.
Here’s the thing: install all of the content and Hitman 2 ends up at about 125GB on the PlayStation 4. We’d figured that the new game could top out at about 200GB, but IO Interactive has done some optimisation work behind-the-scenes. Writing on ResetEra, a developer revealed that all three titles will weigh in at about 100GB, which is a significant reduction.
“One thing I think all of you will be happy to hear is that we have managed to get the size of the game down significantly,” user A Path Finder explained. “All three games with all content will take up around 100GB.” The visuals from older levels have also been updated, with screen-space reflections and various other optimisations.
Obviously with the PS5 offering such a small amount of storage space, it’s good to know that the developer has significantly optimised the file size. Yes, 100GB is still a lot of space, but we’d been expecting the worst, so we’re happy to hear that additional effort has been invested into this area.
