Housemarque has shown off more footage of its upcoming time-traveling psychological horror.
The latest video in developer Housemarque’s HouseCast series sheds some light on how Returnal came to be.
Game director Harry Krueger explained how the PS5 exclusive — previously called Dark Planet — came together, and listed a slew of inspirations that have fuelled the studio during the development process of the curious sci-fi psychological horror shooter.
In the video – above – you can also catch a look at some new gameplay if you’re paying attention during the interview.
Returnal was announced back in June, and is clearly Housemarque’s most ambitious game to date. It leverages the studio’s experience with arcade-style games, merging that with roguelike third-person shooter elements, and brings everything together with higher production values and a bigger scope.
Sony announced that Returnal will be available March 19, 2021, and only on PS5.
