Well this is a pain in the arse, isn’t it? Yakuza: Like a Dragon is out today on PlayStation 5, and it’s a free upgrade if you already own the game on PS4. Except at the time of writing, the upgrade process doesn’t actually work.
Usually, all you have to do is head to the game’s page (either on the PlayStation Store or in your library), and find the PS5 version. From there, you simply claim your free upgrade and that’s that. It could all be labelled a bit better, but personally speaking, we’ve had no problems with upgrades in the past.
Like a Dragon, however, prompts you to buy the current-gen edition should you attempt to claim it. It’s also worth noting that this only happens with the digital version of the game. If you have Like a Dragon on disc, you should be able to upgrade hassle-free.
So, someone’s cocked something up. It could just be that the free upgrade magically appears once the store is fully updated later today, but we’ll have to wait and see. We’ve reached out to Yakuza’s PR team for comment, but in the meantime, let us know if you’re having the same problem in the comments section below.
We’ll update this article as we learn more.
