Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a good example of software that suffered for being a digital only release. Back on PlayStation 3, the title was removed from sale after licensing lapsed, meaning you couldn’t buy it for a number of years. The good news is that it’s coming back on PS4 in a matter of days, but if you want to ensure you always have access, Limited Run has some options for you.
While you’ll of course be able to nab the game digitally from the PS Store, the aforementioned company has created not one, not two, but three physical editions of the fan favourite.
The standard edition comes with exclusive reversible artwork — one side is a brilliant Sonic Adventure-esque illustration from Scott Pilgrim artist Bryan Lee O’Malley himself. It also includes a Clash at Demonhead concert ticket and a full-colour instruction booklet (remember those?). It retails for $34.99.
Next up is the Classic Edition. It includes everything in the standard version, plus a Mega Drive-style game case (also with reversible artwork), a set of stickers, physical CD soundtrack, and an overworld map. This edition will set you back $54.99.
Finally, we have the K.O. Edition. This ultimate version of the game gets you everything in the Classic Edition, plus a hard-shell roadie case box “featuring working lights and sound”, a hardcover guide book, the soundtrack on CD and cassette, wooden drum sticks, a trio of Sex Bob-omb guitar picks, an enamel pin, and trading cards. It’s obviously the priciest of the lot, going for $139.99.
All three editions are being put up for pre-order in a week’s time, on 15th January 2021 at 10am EST (7am PST or 3pm GMT). You’ll have six weeks to secure your purchase.
So, there you go. Grab one of these, and you won’t need to worry about any digital shenanigans. Will you be pre-ordering a physical version of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game? Level up in the comments section below.
